A Profound Look Back at the Week: August 30 – September 5

It’s officially here. Autumn, that is. So is our new kitchen. Things are happening, which tells me the extra-dose of real-lifing I was forced to take this summer (which is now on its way out in case anyone has not committed this to memory) is now paying off. Or is it?

A Profound Look Back at the Week: August 2-8

The reason there was no PLBW last week was that I was too busy going to the beach on Sunday and then too busy dying slowly of heat and humidity in Constanta to write anything but the bare necessities such as work. I’m still in the process of recovering but since it’s a long road from central Bulgaria to southern Romania, I made some pictures on the way, completely random. Well, almost.

A Profound Look Back at the Week: July 12-18

It’s the middle of the summer in this part of the world. Mid-July, specifically, is called the Great Heat, which sounds a lot better in Bulgarian but I’m not used to translating BG-EN, so that’s all you get, I’m afraid. And because it is too hot to think of something potentially witty to write about, here’s a bunch of random pictures I’ve taken recently.

These past two weeks have been a time of trials and torture but also of reward for perseverance. You’ll notice I’m doing the subheadings a little differently, with the song of the same title because why not.

Work, work, work

I recently read Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix, who is now officially my new favourite writer and one of the many great things about this shamefully short novel was how he had incorporated one of the most notorious evil slogans in human history into his story. The slogan was Work shall set you free and I don’t need to tell you why it’s as notorious as it is.

It has been quite a busy week and not just with walking the cat on a leash because this is how he gets his fresh air now, since he can’t be trusted with complete freedom yet. This will change in June but for now, it’s walks on a leash, like some sub-cat life form. What goes around comes around.
