Guest post guidelines

Lords and ladies, monsters and angels, and regular humans*,

I’d love to hear from you, so I’m opening a guest post path for this blog. The only thing I can offer at this point is not too substantial exposure but hey, the 800 people who follow this blog and may read your writing are 800 more than zero, right? Right! Plus, they’re all cool, so there’s that. It’s always better to have cool people read your writing, I’m sure. I’m one of them. I should know.

I want to read your stories, fiction or real life. Here are some pretty basic guidelines.

Fiction: I can’t think of a genre I’d rather not publish here, so send me your darkest and scariest but also your sweetest and most happy-ending. As long as the story is interesting, it has a place here. Yeah, “interesting” is subjective but if you had fun writing it, someone will have fun reading it. It’s as simple as that, really.

Non-fiction: Send me your musings and\or any advice you feel willing to dispense on:

  • writing
  • parenting
  • cooking
  • gardening
  • working
  • life in general

No topic is off limits, really, with an important exception: politics. Also, though it should go without saying, I’ll say it: if you want to tell the world that war, abuse, or poverty is hilarious, this is not the place to do it.

What else? Right, the fun part. If you’ve read any number of my blogs, you’ve probably noticed I try to see most of life through a funny lens. This doesn’t necessarily mean I want you to send me only your funny thoughts. Humour is always appreciated because I feel there is a global shortage of it that’s worse than the looming shortage of helium but it’s certainly not required.

Finally, one more thing that should go without saying but won’t. To me, proofreading and, where needed, editing, are a matter of self-respect. I really hope you agree with me.

Okay, that’s it. If we can make this regular I’ll be one even happier writer than I already am.

Send me your work at lamiastriga@outlook.com
